PALM VALLEY

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, constructed a high level replacement bridge on SR 210 over the Intracoastal Waterway in St. Johns County. The new bridge replaced a two-lane bascule bridge and is 2,138′ long and 80′ wide, accommodating four lanes of traffic and dual shoulders in each direction. Upon completion, the bridge was turned over to St. Johns County for operation and maintenance.

CSI Geo staff provided the necessary site and laboratory soils testing for the roadway, bridge embankments, drainage piping, and other structures; and the necessary concrete compressive strength testing for the substructures and superstructure. Soils testing included determination of Atterburg limits, limerock bearing ratios, grain size distribution, moisture content, organics content, specific gravity, and compaction tests (4-inch and 6-inch molds).
